You’re probably familiar with the concept of a coffeehouse inside a church. But have you ever heard of a church inside a coffeehouse? That’s Coffeehouse Five Church.
We meet Sunday evenings at 5pm at Coffeehouse Five Franklin. As you would expect from a church in a coffeehouse, our gatherings are laid back, informal and simple. Jamie Satre, our worship pastor, leads us in worship, Brian Peters, our teaching pastor, leads us in a discussion of the Bible passage of the week, and then we have a time to hang out and chat. We encourage children of all ages to attend with their parents, but we also have a nursery area available for younger children.
We are a Christian church, not associated with a denomination, that began life as a church plant of Community Church of Greenwood. We are committed to:
So for us it doesn’t have to be any more complicated than a weekly corporate gathering and daily personal engagement with God and other people. Whether you join us out of like-mindedness or just curiosity, we hope to see you soon.

We are a Christian church, not associated with a denomination, that began life as a church plant of Community Church of Greenwood. We are committed to:
- Engaging with scripture. More than anything we seek to develop people who love the person of Jesus, not people who love sermons, or people who love church, or people who love serving, as good as those things may be. Jesus himself said the thing that is most important about us is that we love God with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength. This can only happen as we meet with and enjoy God consistently through engagement with scripture, God’s revelation of himself to us.
- Caring for each other. Most churches do a good job of caring for physical needs. While that’s important to us as well, what’s of more importance to us is that we take responsibility for each other’s spiritual condition. The Bible paints a picture of the early church as a place where people were involved in each other’s lives. One-on-one discipleship, where every person is being discipled and is discipling another, is hard and time-consuming, but what we are called to. So we’ve done away with programs and seek to focus on relationships instead.
- Serving our community. Another lesson we learn from the Bible is that God often judges His people based on how well they serve and seek justice for those outside the church. God calls the church to be kind and compassionate towards those who don’t know Him, that they might come to know Him through the kindness of His people. Again we do this not through programs, but by helping people have confidence in the gifts and abilities God has given them and encouraging them to use those gifts and abilities to serve the people around them every day.
So for us it doesn’t have to be any more complicated than a weekly corporate gathering and daily personal engagement with God and other people. Whether you join us out of like-mindedness or just curiosity, we hope to see you soon.
