Baker
We are currently seeking a production baker at our Franklin location.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Baker is responsible for preparing a variety of baked goods, including breads, muffins, scones and other bakery items according to our recipes; maintaining the overall cleanliness and neatness of the kitchen, and ensuring we have adequate supplies of all ingredients as needed from day to day in order to produce bakery items for all of our retail locations as well as catered orders.

- Baking experience in a production kitchen is required. Coffee shop experience is helpful but not required.
- Demonstrated understanding of and proficiency with standard baking terminology and tools.
- Available Monday-Friday, and occasional Saturdays, as needed based on demand.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Baking
- Follow recipes accurately and consistently to prepare doughs, fillings, batters, icings and other necessary components of all Coffeehouse Five baked goods.
- Use tools such as hand mixers, electric mixers and cooking machinery to blend together ingredients to create high-quality baked goods.
- Cook prepared recipes as needed, using molds, pans or sheets, depending on the proper baking technique for the item.
- Make suggestions to supervisor regarding necessary changes to recipes.
- Adjust the amount of ingredients, the oven temperatures, and cooking times as needed so that all products come out consistently.
- Rinse dishes as used in preparation for washing, and, working with staff, ensure that all dishes are washed in a timely manner. If café is busy to the point that other staff are not able to wash dishes in a timely manner, baker will wash dishes as needed.
- Understand, set and adjust daily baking schedules based on combined sales at all locations.
- Identify and document schedules for wrapping/boxing/refrigerating baked goods each day as a guide for leads/shift supervisors.
- Inspect baked goods to ensure they are of the highest quality, and remove any damaged items before they reach the display case.
- Ensure general neatness and organization of all utensils and equipment used for baking so that others are able to find and use them as necessary.
- Ensure that all baking equipment is cleaned, broken down and put away at the end of each day of baking.
- Complete an inventory record for all supplies used in baking on a weekly basis.
- Notify supervisor on a timely basis of the need for any ingredients not included in regular inventory.
- Update shopping lists for local supplies as necessary.
- Receive, check and shelve deliveries.
- Assist front of house from time to time as needed when busy and understaffed.
